Death of Mrs. John F. Welch

A message was received Tuesday, telling of the death of Mrs. John F. Welch, at her home in Glendale, California. Mrs. Welch was formerly Miss Maude Worthing, of Winterset.

She leaves one son, Russell, and her husband. She is also survived by her father, John E. Worthing, of Peru; five sisters, Mrs. W. O. Creger, Mrs. Arnette Bradshaw and Mrs. Tom Queen, of Truro, and Mrs. Jerry Durham and Mrs. O. W. Fansler, of Des Moines, and three brothers, Barger Worthing, of Denver, Colorado; Richard, of San Francisco, California, and John Worthing, of Boulder, Colorado. Mrs. Welch’s mother died five years ago, while on a visit there.

Mrs. Welch left Winterset twenty-five years ago, and had made her home in California since that time.

J. Maude Welch

J. Maude Worthing was born in Ohio, moving to Iowa with her parents, when a child and residing in Madison county until her marriage to John Franklin Welch, of Winterset, in 1901, at which time they went to Los Angeles, California, making that their home until one year ago, when they moved to Glendale, where she passed away at 115 West Windsor Road. To this union was born one son, John Russell, also of Glendale.

Besides her loving husband and son, she leaves her father, John E. Worthing of Peru; five sisters, Mrs. W. O. Creger and Mrs. Arnette Bradshaw of Truro; Mrs. T. H. Queen of New Virginia; Mrs. J. E. Durham and Mrs. O. W. Fransler of Des Moines; three brothers, B. A. Worthing of Denver, Colorago, John E. Worthing of Boulder, Colorado and Richard S. Worthing of San Francisco; a niece, Mrs. Mary Howell of Glendale; a nephew, J. Kenneth Bradshaw of Los Angeles and a host of friends.

Mrs. Welch united with the Baptist church of Winterset when quite young. She was taken ill four years ago, never regaining her health, and passed away March 4, 1930 at the age of 52 years and 5 days.
