CARL H. LANE DIES AT AGE OF 76 YEARS

Carl H. Lane of Indianola, former secretary-treasurer of the National Farm Loan association for Madison and Warren counties died Monday, May 10 at Mercy hospital in Des Moines. He had suffered a stroke a week previously.

Mr. Lane was 76 years of age. He had been a resident of Indianola since 1920, coming there from Guthrie Center, where he had been cashier of a bank. He served as president of the First National bank of Indianola until it closed in 1932. He then entered the service of the National Farm Loan association, organizing the Madison-Warren county branch and serving as its secretary-treasurer until his retirement in 1947.

Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Earl Fisher of Spencer; three brothers, Will Lane, president of the Security Savings bank in Marshalltown; Ray Lane of Pacific Palisades, Calif., and Clayton Lane, a member of the diplomatic service in Washington, D.C. He also leaves two sisters, Mrs. H. M. Mayham of Guthrie Center and Mrs. C. H. Prior of Pasadena, Calif.
