Life-Long Resident of This County Was 80 Years of Age
Thomas E. Husted a life-long resident of Madison county, died Saturday, Feb. 20 at the Strable Nursing home in St. Charles, after an extended period of failing health. He was 80 years of age.
Mr. Husted had spent his life as a farmer and livestock buyer in Madison county. He was born at Truro Aug. 25, 1873. He was married to the former Lucinda Childers on Dec. 21, 1898. They farmed until about 20 years ago, when he retired and moved into St. Charles.
Four sons, Clyde, Forest, Leslie and a boy who died in infancy preceded him in death, as also did a step-daughter, Edith Childers Allen.
He is survived by his wife; four sons, Virgie and Eugene of Knoxville and Frank and Eldon of Des Moines; a step-son Frank Childers of Des Moines; 26 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; a brother, Ora Husted and a sister, Mrs. Bell Brown, both of Winterset.
Funeral services were held Monday from the St. Charles Methodist church, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. G. Eldon Haworth. Burial was made in the Peru cemetery.
