MRS. CORA C. CHASE SUCCUMBS IN CHICAGO

Earlham-(Special)--Mrs. Cora C. Chase, long-time resident of this community, died May 28 in Chicago at the home of her daughter, Winnifred.

Mrs. Chase was the daughter of Edmond and Rachel Mathews, and was born in Rio, Ill., coming to Iowa with her parents when she was a child.

Mrs. Chase was a sister of Hattie Davis of Winterset.

Funeral services were held from the Welch funeral home here last Saturday, in charge of the Rev. C. P. Shephard, pastor of the Church of Christ. Burial was made in the Earlham cemetery.

Cora Cornelia Chase, beloved mother of Winnifred Finnigan, and also of Hattie Davis of Winterset, Iowa, and loved grandmother of Lawrence and Katharine Dever, departed this life May 28, 1941, at the home of her daughter in Chicago, Illinois.

Mrs. Chase was born in Rio, Illinois, and came to this state with her parents when a child. Her parents were Edmond and Rachel Matthews, who passed on before her.

She was a Christian, having obeyed her Master in making the good confession, and in being baptized, and in working in the Kingdom.

Mrs. Chase was a mother, and --- of never tiring efforts in her zeal to do kind, and lovely deeds. She was an earnest church worker and was steadfast in the faith.

She spent much of her life in and around Earlham, where she will be remembered by many good friends and kind neighbors.

Funeral services were conducted from the Welch Funeral Home Saturday a.m. May 31, 1941, by Rev. Clayton P. Shepard, pastor of the Church of Christ. The Welch Funeral Service in charge.

Interment was made in the Earlham cemetery.
