Raymond McLees, former Winterset resident, died at his home in Bottineau, North Dakota, Monday July 4th, at the age of 49 years. Mr. McLees was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Anderson McLees, and he lived in Madison county during the early years of life. His family moved to North Dakota when he was 15 years of age, and that state has since been his home. He was a cousin of the Charles Breeding, Ralph McLees, and L. L. Wade families here.
Mr. McLees was born in Centerville, in 1888. Since going to North Dakota he had attended and graduated from the Valley City Teachers college, and received his master of science degree at the University of North Dakota. He also studied at the Universities of Minnesota and Chicago. During recent years he has been president of the North Dakota School of Forestry at Bottineau.
He is survived by his wife, a daughter, Audrey Ann, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Anderson McLees of Sanborn, North Dakota and a brother, James of Valley City.
Funeral services were held in Bottineau on July 6, and at Valley City on July 7th, with burial in the Woodbine cemetery at the latter city.
