JOHN BAKER DIES

Widely-Known Resident of Winterset Succumbs This Morning

John Baker, well known Winterset resident, died at the Mercy hospital in Des Moines shortly before noon today. Mr. Baker who was 68 years of age, had been in poor health for the past eight months and had been receiving treatment at the Des Moines hospital for the past three weeks.

Mr. Baker has always lived in this community, and for many years was a horse buyer. He is survived by his wife and their three children: Ralph Baker, Mrs. Ruth Kurtzwell and Mrs. Ethel Mitchell all of Winterset. He also leaves a brother and two sisters, Harry Baker and Mrs. Mary Fudge of Winterset and Mrs. Ollie Wing of Kansas City.

Funeral arrangements had not yet been made when the Madisonian went to press Wednesday afternoon.
