Mrs. Vina Clanton, elderly resident of the county home for many years, died there early Wednesday morning. She was 83 years of age. The former Vina Rogers, she was born May 13, 1854. Funeral arrangements had had not been completed as the Madisonian went to press Wednesday afternoon.

Melvina Rogers, daughter of James and Margaret Rogers, was born near Old Ottoway in Lucas county, Iowa, May 13, 1854, and passed away January 12, 1938, at the age of 83 years and 8 months.
She moved to Madison county with her parents at an early age, and has spent most of her life here.
She was married to John Tague, and to this union was born two children, Lulu who passed away at the age of twenty, and Earnest dying in infancy.
Later in life she was married to James Clanton, both husbands preceded her in death.
She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Rose Anderson of Everett, Washington and a number of nieces and nephews here and elsewhere.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. H. L. Olmstead at 2:00 o'clock Thursday, Jan. 13th, at the Ramsey-Richards funeral home. Interment was made in the Winterset cemetery.
________________________Coordinator's note: Her Iowa Death Certificate shows her middle name as "Lavina". Her marriage record has "Mary Nadina". The only census record supporting a middle name has "Mary M."
