SUDDEN DEATH OF W. C. TRAUTWEIN

W. C. Trautwein, an attorney at law and mayor of the town of Macksburg, died yesterday afternoon from heart failure. Mr. Trautwein was well known in Winterset having been a law student in the office of John A. Guiher before his admittance to the bar. The deceased was a bright young attorney with good prospects of a successful life in his chosen profession.

He was a native of Brown county, Ohio, and received his education at Ada college in that state, finishing with a law course at the Cincinnati college of Law. Before locating at Macksburg about two years ago, he practiced for a short time at Davenport, Iowa. His wife, Mrs. Nellie Trautwein, survives him.

MACKSBURG

This community was greatly shocked last Wednesday afternoon by the sudden death of W. C. Trautwein. Mr. Trautwein was 35 years of age. He was born in Brown county, Ohio and spent his youth there. He was graduated at the Ohio State Normal college, at Ada, Ohio, when about twenty years of age. After teaching for two or three years in that state, he came to this place.

He taught the Macksburg high school during the school year 1894-5. Soon after the completion of the school year he went to Winterset and studied law for two years with John Guiher. He was admitted to the bar October 6th, 1897. He was graduated from the law department of the Cincinnati University, June 14th, 1898.

He began the practice of law in Davenport, Iowa. While there he suffered a severe nervous prostration which made it impossible to do any work for about two years. After recovering his health he returned to Macksburg and engaged in the practice of law here.

He was married May 4th, 1904, to Mrs. Nellie Trautwein, who survives him. Mr. Trautwein united with the (line missing at bottom of page)…elected as mayor of the town to fill a vacancy but little more than a week before his death. The funeral services were held in the Macksburg M. E. church, Friday, July 13th, 1906, conducted by Rev. C. E. Trueblood. The interment was made in the Macksburg cemetery.
