Long-Time Resident Died at Polk City Last Friday
Funeral services were held here Sunday for Alfred Goff, long-time resident of Madison county, who died last Friday at his home at Polk City. He was 83 years of age.
Mr. Goff had spent most of his life as a farmer in Madison county. He was a brother-in-law of Grant Dunn of Winterset.
He leaves a daughter, Mrs. Madge Hurd of Carpenter; and four sons, Arch, Glen and Clarence Goff of Polk City and Cory Goff of Winterset.
The rites were held from the Tidrick funeral home in Winterset Sunday in charge of the Rev. L. F. Davis. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.

The body of Alfred Monroe Goff was brought to Winterset Sunday for services and burial. Mr. Goff died Thursday, March 31, at the home of his son in Polk City.
Mr. Goff, the son of Nathan and Elizabeth Goff, was born at Muncie, Delaware county, Indiana, August 10, 1854. He came to Iowa with his parents at the age of nine years and settled at Winterset where he spent most of his early life.
He was united in marriage to Lucinda Trester of Winterset, April 1, 1881. To this union five children were born.
Those who mourn his death are his five children, Arch, Glenn, Clarence of Polk City, Mrs. Walter Heard of Carpenter and Corbert of Winterset; six grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. His wife preceded him in death in December, 1921.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 in the Tidrick funeral home, conducted by the Rev. L. F. Davis. Burial was madde in the Winterset cemetery.
