Had Been Resident of South Township for Past 25 Years
The Rev. N. J. Wood, elderly resident of near St. Charles, died at his home last Friday to end five years of failing health. He was 77 years of age.
The Rev. Mr. Wood had lived near St. Charles for 25 years. He formerly lived in Marion county, where he was born on February 5, 1861. On December 2, 1883, he was married to Miss Viana Colton, who survives him. They were the parents of five children, one of them, Mearl, dying in 1911.
The deceased was a member and elder in the Primitive Baptist church, in which he wielded a strong influence.
In addition to his wife, he leaves three sons and a daughter. They are: Marion and Mack Wood of Regina, Canada; Hallie, at home; and Mrs. Beulah Durham of St. Charles.
Funeral services were to be held at St. Charles today at 2 p.m., in charge of his life-long firned, the Rev. G. J. Jones of Knoxville, assisted by the Rev. B. L. May of Cedar Falls. Burial was to be made in the St. Charles cemetery.
