Ross Croft, former Winterset resident, died at his home in Knoxville Wednesday, May 6th at the age of 72 years. He came to Winterset in 1885 and made this place his home until two years ago when he moved to Knoxville. He was married August 6, 1895 to Nancy Elizabeth McClain of Patterson and they were the parents of eight children, four of whom were deceased. Two died in infancy. Bruce was killed in the World war and Mrs. Irene Fletcher died four years ago.
He is survived by his wife and four sons; Clarence, Lowell and Donald of Knoxville, and Stanley of Winterset. Funeral services were held at Knoxville, Friday, May 8th and burial was in the Winterset cemetery.

Ross Edward Croft born at Stockdale, Miami county, Indiana, June 22, 1863, died at his home in Knoxville May 6, 1936, aged 72 years, 10 months and 14 days. He was the son of Christian and Mary Croft.
About 1885 he moved to Winterset where he had his home until two years ago when the family moved to Knoxville. He was a teamster by occupation.
He was married August 6, 1895 to Mancy Elizabeth McClain at Patterson. Eight children were born to them, four of whom are deceased. To died in infancy, Bruce, the eldest son was killed in the World war and Mrs. Irene Fletcher died four years ago.
He leaves his wife, four sons, Clarence Lowell and Donald Croft of Knoxville; Stanley of Winterset; and four grandchildren, Ruth Marie Croft, Maxine, Harry, Jr., and Wayne Fletcher.
Funeral services were held at the Bybee and Davis funeral home in Knoxville Friday afternoon at 1:30 conducted by the Rev. A. Vern Cleveland, pastor of the First Christian church of Knoxville; burial was in the Winterset cemetery.
