FRED FARLOW DIES

Collapses on Street in Des Moines, Victim of Heart Disease

Fred A. Farlow, a life-long resident of Winterset and for 26 years an employee of the Northwestern Bell Telephone company here, died suddenly in Des Moines Wednesday afternoon.

Mr. Farlow collapses at Eleventh and College streets and was dead when picked up. He had been in ill health late, afflicted with heart trouble. He was 53 years old.

Mr. Farlow was born in Winterset and spent his entire life here until transferred to Des Moines about a month ago. He attended the public schools here and later went into the employ of the Bell Telephone company where he had since remained.

He was the son of Albert and Mary Farlow. In 1911 he was married to Miss Pearl Marvin. They were the parents of one daughter. In addition to his widow he is survived by the daughter, Mabel Walters, a granddaughter, Marvel Dell Walters, a sister, Mrs. Marie Greenwood and four brothers, Welba Farlow of Winterset, Glen Farlow of Tacoma, Washington and Ralph and Earl Farlow of Winterset. One sister preceded him in death.

As a young man he had united with the Church of Christ here and remained a member throughout life.

Funeral services will be conducted from the Ramsey-Richards funeral home at 2 p.m. Saturday and burial will be made in the Winterset cemetery.

FRED A. FARLOW

Fred Absalom Farlow was born February 1, 1883 in Winterset, Iowa. He was the second son of Albert and Mary Farlow. As a boy, he attended the Winterset public schools. On August 19, 1911 he was united in marriage to Pearl L. Marvin. To this union was born one daughter, Mable Lorraine Walter, who with her little daughter, Marvel Dell Walter resided at home with her parents.

He passed away December 2, 1936 in Des Moines where he recently moved, having reached the age of 53 years, 10 months and 1 day. He was a lover of his home and his family; his thoughts were for others before himself. As a young man he united with the Church of Christ and remained a member throughout life.

He leaves besides his widow and daughter, and little granddaughter, a mother he loved devotedly, four brothers, Welba, Ralph and Earl of Winterset and Glen of Tacoma, Washington and one sister, Mrs. Marie Greenwood of Winterset. His father and younger sister Ivanita, having preceded him in death. Besides many nieces and nephews and one great nephew, he also leaves many friends, other relatives and co-workers who all thought highly of him and by whom he will be sadly missed.

Funeral services were conducted from the Ramsey-Richards funeral home at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 5, by Rev. L. F. Davis. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
