John B. Kunsch died Saturday, April 9th, at the home of his step-daughter, Mrs. W. F. Marquardt near Van Meter. He had suffered a stroke early in January and his health had continued to fail since then. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Lutheran church south of Van Meter. Burial was in the De Soto cemetery.

John B. Kunsch was born in Arlen, Belgium, November 8, 1854. At the age of 33 years he came to America and made his home at Des Moines, Iowa with an uncle until his marriage to Kathryn Long of De Soto, in 1887. They lived in Des Moines eight years after which they made their home on a farm near Earlham.

Death separated this union on April 28, 1903 when Mrs. Kunsch passed away.

On October 5 of the year 1905 he was united in marriage to Sarah Bernau who still survives.

Also surviving are his stepdaughter Mrs. W. F. Marquardt of Van Meter, and four step-grandchildren, Ernie Marquardt of Earlham, Mrs. Roy Lobstein of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Herman Bernau of Boone, Iowa and Mrs. Lohren Meyers also of Boone.

Mr. Kunsch resided at his home near Earlham until March 1, 1938 when due to his illness he and Mrs. Kunsch moved to the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. F. Marquardt where his death occurred April 9, 1938. He was 83 years, five months and one day old.

DEATH OF JOHN KUNSCH

Van Meter--(Special)--April 11.

John Kunsch passed away Saturday, April 9th, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William F. Marquardt. Mr. Kunsch whose home was near Earlham, suffered a stroke about three months ago, and has been ill ever since. The past month he has been at the Marquardt home.

He was born in Belgium eighty-three years ago. At the age of thirty-three, he came to the United States and located in Des Moines, and later came to his farm. He is survived by his wife.

The funeral was held Tuesday at the Trinity Lutheran church.
