ISRAEL BRANT OF PATTERSON DIES

88-Year-Old Resident Had Lived in This County Since 1920

Israel L. Brant, a resident of the Patterson community since 1920 died at his home north of Patterson last Friday. He was 88 years of age. (d. 5-8-1942).

Mr. Brant was born in Bedford county, Pennsylvania on Aug. 31, 1853. When one year old, he came with his parents to Iowa. They settled at Oxford, which was his home until coming to Madison county in 1920.

He was married to Miss Clarice Elizabeth Sible in 1875. They were the parents of 12 children, eight of whom died in infancy. Mrs. Brant died in 1929.

He was a member of the Presbyterian church at Oxford.

Mr. Brant is survived by four children, Albert Brant of Patterson, Mrs. Emma Heeb of Parma, Ida., William Brant of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Sam Brant who has been living at home. He also leaves nine grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held from the Methodist church at Patterson Monday and burial was made in the Montpelier cemetery there.
