Mrs. Elizabeth Jane Jones Succumbs at Age of 90 Years
Truro-(Special)-Mrs. Elizabeth Jane Jones, a resident of this community since 1914, died last Friday at the age of 90 years.
Mrs. Jones was the former Elizabeth Jane Carter, daughter of John and Martha Elizabeth Carter, and was born in Indiana on Jan. 11, 1852. She was married to Theodore W. Jones on June 8, 1871. As a child of 11 years she had come to Iowa with her parents. Much of her life was lived in Clarke county until 1914 when she moved to Truro.
Mrs. Jones was the mother of eight children. One daughter died in infancy and two sons, James and Albert Jones, and her husband preceded her in death. The surviving children are: Mrs. Eva DeLong, Mrs. Ida Garst, and Mrs. Velma Muselman of Truro, Mrs. Mattie Smith of Des Moines, Mrs. Edith Whitehead of Lorimor. She also leaves one brother, Dayton Carter of Bremerton, Wash., 16 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held from the Kale funeral home here Sunday, in charge of the Rev. Mr. Watson. Burial was made in Field's cemetery.
