Page 2DEATH OF G. H. McCREA
(St. Charles Special)
G. H. McCrea, an old and highly respected member of this community, died suddenly at his home one fourth mile south of St. Charles last Thursday night. He had been in poor health for several years but had been in his usual health, helping with the chores that evening. He had retired and awakened some time after telling his wife he was suffering intensely. She telephoned for the doctor and when she returned to the bed, found he had passed away.Mr. McCrea lacked only a few days of being 80 years of age. He had lived in this community many years and was also a prominent mason having received his fifty year certificate of membership two years ago. He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Daisy Clanton and Mrs. Frances Shutt both of this place, two grandsons, one sister, Mrs. Anna Morrow of Indianola and one brother Will McCrea near St. Charles.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Methodist church with Rev. Randels of the Christian church in charge assisted by Rev. Carnahan and Rev. Nixon. Burial was in the St. Charles cemetery with the Masonic rites at the grave.
