MRS. W. R. CROUSE DIED ON SATURDAY

Funeral Held Monday With Burial at Grand Junction

Mrs. W. R. Crouse, wife of the well-known Winterset business man, died at her home on West Green street, about 8 o'clock Saturday after a long illness. She was 51 years of age.

Mrs. Crouse was the former Gertrude E. Coughenower, daughter of M. E. and Adeline Coughenower, and was born at Eagleville, Missouri on January 27, 1886. At an early age she moved with her parents to Jefferson, Iowa.

On October 27, 1909 she was married to W. R. Crouse of Grand Junction, Iowa. In 1925, they moved to Des Moines where they made their home for a number of years. There she took an active part in church and club work. From 1927 to 1929 she was state secretary of the auxiliary of the Iowa Farmers Union.

In 1933 the family moved to Winterset where Mr. Crouse operated the "Rite-Way" Grocery store for several years before returning to the insurance business. Here she had made a wide circle of acquaintanceship.

Mrs. Crouse had affiliated with the church in childhood and remained a life-long member.

She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Mrs. C. D. Reed Jr. of Des Moines and Mildred at home; a brother, C. E. Coughenower of Jefferson and a sister, Mrs. Pearl Clampitt of Omaha.

Brief funeral services were held at the Ramsey-Richards funeral home. Monday she was taken to Grand Junction for burial.
