Walter Vance of Winterset, received word Saturday of the death Friday of his brother, E. L. Vance at his home in Olathe, Kansas.
The deceased is a former resident of Madison county, making his home in Lincoln township from 1877 to 1900. He was 85 years old, and was the father of nine children, one of whom preceded him in death.
Burial was made Lee's Summit, Missouri on Tuesday.

Vance – Ephraim L. Vance passed away at his home in Olathe, Kans., Friday evening, Jan.3, 1936. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mollie Vance, 3 sons, Wesley, San Antonio, Tex., Leonard and Merville of Kansas City, Mo., 5 daughters, Mrs. W. O. Manley, La Belle, Fla.,; Mrs. C. A. Mitchell, Orient, Ia., Mrs. T. J. Boten and Mrs. Ira Hopkins of Lees Summit, Mo., Mrs. A. N. Siren, Kansas City, Mo.; 1 brother, W. H. Vance, Winterset, Ia., And grandchildren.Funeral services will be held at 1:30 Monday afternoon, Jan. 6, 1936, at the Community church. Interment in the cemetery of Lees Summit. W. L. Frye & sons in charge.
