MRS. MARY PLATT DIES

Mrs. Mary Augustine Platt, aged Macksburg resident, died at the home of her daughter, Ms. Bertha Edwards of Macksburg, last Friday noon, April 22nd. She was 84 years of age.

The deceased was the former Mary Augustine, daughter of Chris and Maggie Augustine and was born at Peoria, Ill., July 11, 1853. She came to Adair county, with her parents, when a child and they located near Hebron. She was married to Marion Phillips in the spring of 1876, and they were the parents of one son, Thomas Phillips, who now lives in Afton. Mr. Phillips died in 1877, and on October 5, 1881 she was married to Louis Platt at Greenfield, and they made their home in this county. Mr. Platt preceded her in death, on May 4, 1936. For the past two years, she has been at the home of her daughter.

The deceased leaves four children: Thomas Phillips of Afton, Mrs. Bertha Edwards of Macksburg and Ed and Roy Platt of Winterset. She and her late husband were both members of the Wesley Chapel Methodist church.

The Rev. M. D. Summerbell conducted her funeral services at the Macksburg Methodist church, Sunday afternoon, and burial was made in the Winterset cemetery. The Rev. Bernard Weetman of Hebron assisted with the services.
