JAS. N. McNAMARA COMMITS SUICIDE

Winterset Resident Hangs Self at Farm Last Saturday

James N. McNamara, 38-year-old resident of Winterset, took his own life by hanging Saturday evening at the farm he operated in Union township.

He had been in town Saturday afternoon, apparently in good spirit. He went out to the farm about 6 p.m. ostensibly to do the chores. His body was found about 7:30 p.m. by his father, James McNamara. He was found in the barn.

As far as could be ascertained, McNamara left no note and no reason could be ascribed for his action.

He was a life-long resident of Madison county, having been born and reared on the farm of his parents in Union township. He was married last fall to Elizabeth Julia Laughlin of Des Moines, and since then had made his home in Winterset.

He is survived by his bride of less than a year; his father, a sister, Mrs. Herman Lewis of Winterset; and four brothers, Martin, Joe and Frank McNamara of this community and John McNamara of Missouri.

Funeral services were held from St. Joseph's Catholic church in Winterset Tuesday, in charge of the pastor, the Rev. William Hahessy. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
