Page 6Death of Mrs. Nelson Stout
Van Meter, Feb. 4 - Special -
Mrs. Nelson Stout suffered a paralytic stroke last Saturday, January 25th, and died Monday night, January 27th. She was born in New York state in 1852.
She was married to Nelson Stout in 1869. They resided in Wisconsin until 1880 when they came to Iowa. They were the parents of fourteen children, six of whom have passed away. Mr. Stout died six years ago.
Those left to mourn their mother's departure are: Joe Stout of Des Moines, Blaine and Frank Stout of Sioux City, Mrs. Nellie Rhodes, Fred, Mike and Jack Stout and Mrs. Amanda Tawney, of Van Meter.
Funeral services were held at the United Brethren church Thursday afternoon at two-thirty o'clock, conducted by the pastor, Rev. J. H. Hampshire. The pall bearers were John Jungman, Sam Leaverton, George Lint, M. Jungman, Mr. Loper and Mr. Dawson.
The interment was in the Van Meter Cemetery.
Those who attended the funeral from a distance were: Mr. and Mrs. Joe Stout of Des Moines, and Mrs. Carl Myers of Adel.
