Death of Louis Platt

Madison county lost one of its oldest residents Monday in the death of Louis Platt, who succumbed at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Bertha Edwards of Macksburg at the age of 88 years.

Mr. Platt was born in Harrison county, Indiana on September 12, 1848, the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Platt. He came to Madison county in 1876 and has lived here since that time. Until 20 years ago, he farmed in Jackson township, moving then to Winterset where he lived until last August. Since then he had been at the home of Mrs. Edwards.

He was married on October 5, 1881 to Mary Augustin at Greenfield. They were the parents of two sons and a daughter. he was a member of the Wesley Chapel church.

Mr. Platt leaves his widow, the two sons, Edward and Roy Platt and his daughter, Mrs. Edwards, all of Macksburg, a step-son, T. C. Phillips of Afton, 18 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday from the Methodist church in Macksburg in charge of the Rev. M. D. Summerbell. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.

LOUIS PLATT DIED AT THE HOME OF HIS DAUGHTER MRS. J. J. EDWARDS

Louis Platt died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. J. Edwards on Monday, May 4th. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at the Methodist church, in charge of the Rev. M. D. Summerbell and burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
