Death of L. H. Sawhill

Lewis Henry Sawhill, former resident of Madison county and brother of Mrs. Anderson Fenimore of Peru and John Sawhill of New Virginia, passed away at his home near Boulder, Colorado, March 27, 1936, at the age of 88 years.

Mr. Sawhill was born near Claysville, Pa., January 20, 1848. When 12 years of age he moved with his parents to a farm near Cambridge, Ohio, where they lived until 1863. From there the family moved to Madison county settling on a farm near Peru.

In 1880 Mr. Sawhill moved to Silver Plume, Colorado, where he was engaged in the lumber business until 1890. He was married December 19, 1887 to Margery Emma Wilson of Winterset. After leaving Silver Plume in 1890 they resided in Denver for one year and then returned to Winterset, where they resided continuously on a farm near Boulder from that year until the time of their deaths. (sentence lacks continuity ) Mrs. Sawhill passed away June 26, 1933.

They were the parents of six children, three of whom survive. They are: Dr. John A. Sawhill of Harrisonburg, Va., George L. Sawhill of Boulder, Colorado and Charles L. Sawhill of Denver. Mr. Sawhill is survived by one brother, John Sawhill of New Virginia and two sisters, Mrs. Anderson Fenimore of Peru and Mrs. Mary Parkin of Poplar Bluffs, Missouri.

Funeral services were conducted at the Howe Mortuary in Boulder on March 28 and interment was made in the Valmont cemetery near that city.
