HERMAN H. NEWERF PASSED SATURDAY

Resident of Winterset Since Childhood Dies at Age of 65 Years

Herman H. Newerf, a well-known citizen of Winterset, died here last Saturday at the age of 65 years. His home had been in this community since he was 6 years of age.

Mr. Newerf was born at Pella on April 16, 1876, the son of Charles Nicholas and Henrietta Newerf. His parents were natives of Holland and were among the early settlers of the Dutch community at Pella.

Since coming to Winterset with his parents when he was 6 years old, his entire life had been spent here. His mother died when he was yet a small boy, and he made his home with his father until the latter's death in 1920. Since then he had lived with his sister, Mrs. Hattie Allgeyer of Winterset.

He is survived by two brothers, Charles Newerf of Winterset and Fred Newerf of Des Moines; and four sisters, Mrs. Hattie Allgeyer, Mrs. Charles Handel and Mrs. Oscar Young, all of Winterset, and Mrs. Sam Williams of Marshalltown.

Funeral services were held Monday from the Ramsey-Richards funeral home, in charge of the Rev. W. A. Samp, pastor of the Methodist church here. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
