PIONEER RESIDENT PASSES IN ILLINOIS

Mrs. Sarah Greer Was Born in Winterset in 1857; Died Last Week

Mrs. Sarah Greer, a pioneer resident of Madison county, died last Friday at the home of her daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Chaney at Monmouth, Ill. She was 85 years of age.

Mrs. Greer was the former Sarah Kirtland, daughter of Thomas and Mary Quinn Kirtland and was born in Winterset on April 7, 1857. Her early married life was spent here. She later lived for many years at Omaha, and recently in the Illinois community where her death occurred.

She is survived by her son. L. J. Greer of Omaha, her daughter, Mrs. Bess Chaney of Monmouth, three grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held here Monday from the Ramsey-Richards funeral home in charge of the Rev. W. A. Samp, pastor of the Winterset Methodist Church. Burial was made in the cemetery at Macksburg.
