HENRY HORRAS DIED HERE LAST FRIDAY

Long Illness Is Ended for Veteran Resident of Madison County

Henry Horras, a resident of Madison county for 50 years, died at his home west of Winterset last Friday after a long period of failing health. He was 88 years of age.

Mr. Horras was born on a farm near Sigourney on Feb. 12, 1854, the son of Wendel and Elizabeth Horras. His boyhood was spent at that place. As a young man he spent 7 years in St. Louis, first as an employee of the St. Louis Stockyards company and then as a member of the St. Louis fire department.

He returned to Sigourney and was married on March 31, 1881 to Susie Hein in the Catholic church of which they were both members. They lived for two years on a farm near Sigourney, then moved to a farm near Spencer. In 1892, they moved to Madison county where Mr. Horras spent the remainder of his life. Twenty-five years ago they moved to the home at the west edge of Winterset where they have since resided.

He is survived by his wife; the son John Horras of Winterset; and a grandson, Glendale Horras of Des Moines.

Funeral services were held Monday from Anderson's home for funerals, conducted by the Rev. L. F. Davis. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
