Sarah Malinda Darnall was born on July 25, 1865 in Madison county, Iowa. She was united in marriage with Jacob K. Low July 3, 1883 and they made their home in the same vicinity in which she was born. Two children were born to this union, William of Harrison township and Mrs. Calista Laughlin of Jefferson township, Adair county. On Sept. 20, 1890 her husband was called away by death and she was left with her two small children for whom her life and love were given.

On June 4, 1899 she was again united in marriage to John L. Roy of Winterset and she continued to make her home in the same locality until April 1912 when her second husband was taken by death and she was again left a widow. Soon after this she gave up the idea of ever having a home of her own in this world again and went to live with her daughter, where she was received with all the love and welcome that Calista and her husband could give, which she appreciated very much and in return she was happy and tried to make herself agreeable and useful in her daughter's home, but God had prepared for her a better home than any she had ever enjoyed on earth and on Dec. 18, 1917 she closed her eyes on all of the objects an interests of this earthly life and her body slept forever, freed from all physical suffering and her soul returned to God who gave it, being 52 years, 4 months and 23 days old.

She leaves to mourn her departure, her two children, two grandchildren and four brothers, besides other relatives and many friends.

Her funeral was held at the Louck's Grove Christian church, Dec. 20th at one o'clock, conducted by Rev. R. A. Lewis, who spoke words of comfort and instruction from Psalm 16: 11, after which her body was taken to the Roberts cemetery near Webster where she was buried beside the forms of other loved ones.
