Mabel Irene Anderson, 104, passed away March 26, at Fountain West Care Center. Funeral services well be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service. A private burial will take place at the St. Charles Cemetery, St. Charles, Iowa.

She was born in Hanley near St. Charles and spent most of her life in Iowa except for two and a half years in Chicago. When she and her husband returned to Iowa they settled in the Des Moines area where Mabel lived for 75 years. In her earlier years she taught school in the St. Charles area. She retired from Blue Cross. Mabel enjoyed doing crafts and crossword puzzles. She was an avid bridge player. Mabel enjoyed being with her many friends from the Lodge of Ashworth where she lived before moving to Fountain West. She loved her family and spending time with them was the high light of her life.

Mabel is survived by her son, Dr. Jay Anderson and his wife, Marilyn; her three grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren and many nephews and nieces and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband Gilbert.
