MRS. MELISSIA LYONS

Melissia Eunicia Benge was born January 6, 1854 in Anderson, Madison county, Indiana, and died on March 20, 1937. She came to Madison county Iowa with her parents in 1855. They settled near the Buffalo Mills and lived here until the death of her father in 1871. The family then moved to Winterset and she worked in the Woolen Mills west of Winterset for several years. Then she opened a millinery store and dress making shop.

She was united in marriage to John T. Lyon. To this union one son was born, Glenn Lyon of Des Moines. She spent most of her life in this community.

Those who mourn her death are her son, Glenn and his wife and two children, one sister, Elmire Benge, a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Services were conducted from Tidrick's funeral home at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 23, by Rev. H. L. Olmstead. Interment in the Winterset cemetery.
