Mary Alice Harvey, 92, of Indianola died May 2, 2007, at the Kavanagh House on 56th Street in Des Moines of complications related to COPD.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 12, at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. The family will greet visitors one hour prior to the service. In accordance with her wishes, her body has been donated to medical science.
Alice Harvey was born June 18, 1914, to Ralph and Edna Boll of Waukee. She was united in marriage to Stephen R. Harvey and, for many years, she and Stephen farmed in the Wick and St. Charles areas before retiring to Indianola. While farming, they were foster parents for several children.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two daughters, an infant daughter, D. Genelle, and Deana; and five brothers — Phillip, Harlan, Myrell, Paul and Delwin.
She is survived by two sons, Gene Harvey and Kenneth Harvey; one daughter, Nancy Catchpool; and 11 grandchildren, six stepgrandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, six stepgreat-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Indianola Friends Church, 109 W. Boston Ave., Indianola 50125 or the Kavanagh House, 900 56th St., Des Moines 50312.
