Week’s Letter from Earlham

Word was received of the death of Mrs. W. L. Steinbaugh at her home here about midnight Thursday. Mrs. Steinbaugh has been ill for several weeks with asthma and heart trouble and died suddenly from a heart attack. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Earlham Methodist church. Besides Mr. Steinbaugh, three children, George Bricker of Des Moines, Mrs. Ethel Benson and Carl Bricker of Earlham and seven grandchildren are left. One daughter, Mrs. Nellie Weatherly is dead.

MRS. ANGELINA STEINBAUGH DIES

Earlham-(Special)-Mrs. Angelina R. Steinbaugh, a resident of Madison county for more than 60 years died at her home in Earlham last Friday. She was 80 years of age.

Mrs. Steinbaugh was the former Angelina R. Breakenridge and was born in Williams county, Ohio on May 26, 1855. In 1869 she moved with her parents to Muscatine. There, on December 30, 1874 she was married to Cephus Bricker of Madison county. Since that time this county has been her home. The family moved to Earlham in 1891.

Five children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Bricker. They were George E. Bricker of Des Moines, Cephus Earl Bricker who died in 1886, Nellie May Weatherly who died in 1918 and Ethel I. Benson and Carl O. Bricker of Earlham. Her husband died in 1916.

In 1918 she was united in marriage to John Bartell, who died three years later. On June 14, 1928, she was married to William Steinbaugh of Earlham.

Mrs. Steinbaugh was a member of the Methodist church from early childhood. For more than 10 years she was president of the Silver Circle Sunday school class in Earlham and was a charter member of the W.C.T.U. there.

She is survived by her husband, three children, seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Sunday from the Methodist church in Earlham, conducted by the Rev. L. G. Wolfe, assisted by the Rev. Mr.Bock. Burial was made in the Penn Center cemetery.

MRS. W. L. STEINBAUGH CALLED BY DEATH

Long Time Resident of Community Passed Away After Heart Attack Early Friday Morning.

Mrs. W. L. Steinbaugh, a resident of this community for many years, passed away at her home in Earlham at about 12:10 a.m. Friday. Mrs. Steinbaugh had been confined to her bed with heart trouble for two weeks. A sudden severe attack caused her death. She was past 80 years old.

Funeral services conducted by Rev. L. G. Wolfe assisted by Reverend Peter Bock were held at the Earlham Methodist church Sunday at 2:30 p.m. Interment was in the Penn Center cemetery.

Anglina R. Breakenridge, daughter of Hiland and Celinda Sage Breakenridge was born in Williams county, Ohio, May 26, 1855 and departed this life March 27, 1936 at her home in Earlham, Iowa.

In 1869 she moved with her parents to Muscatine and on December 30, 1874 was united in marriage to Cephus Bricker of Madison county and has resided in this county ever since. In 1891 the family moved to Earlham.

Five children were born to this union, George E. Bricker of Des Moines, Cephus Earl Bricker who died in 1886, Nellie May Weatherly who died in 1918, Ethel I. Benson of Earlham, and Carl O. Bricker of Earlham. Her husband departed this life November 1916. In 1918 she was again united in marriage to John Bartell who passed away three years later. On June 14, 1928 she was united in marriage to William Steinbaugh of Earlham.

She leaves to mourn her loss her husband, three children, and seven grandchildren: Cecile Lewis, Mary Byrne, Ruth and Dale Bricker, Marie and Eleanor Benson, and Paul Weatherly, and four great grandchildren: George Dennis and Terrance Edward Byrne, and James and Sherill Weatherly.

She was a member of the Methodist church from early childhood. For more than ten years she was president of the Silver Circle Sunday School Class and was a charter member of the W.C.T.U.

The many friends of Mrs. W.L. Steinbaugh were saddened Friday morning when they herd of her death. She was once a resident of Penn Center for many years. Several from this community attended the funeral services Sunday afternoon at Earlham at 2 o'clock at the Methodist church and the burial at Penn Center. Yes, we will all miss her sunny disposition and her a pleasant smile.

Out of town relatives and friends who attended the funeral of Mrs. W.L. Steinbaugh included Mr. and Mrs. Ed Breckenridge of Manning, Miss Marie Benson of Hartford; Miss Thelma Steinbaugh of Waterloo; Mrs. Elmer Robinson, Mr. and Mrs. Will McCalister and Mrs. and Mrs. Carroll Robinson, all of Booneville; Mis Eleanor Benson of Indianola; Gilbert W. Weatherly, Mrs. Virginia Weatherly and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Weatherly and children, Jimmy and Sherrill, all of Jasper, Missouri; Mr. and Mrs. George Bricker, Dale Bricker, Miss ruth Bricker, Miss Halla Rhode, Harry Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Grace and daughter, Mary Kathryn, Mr. and Mrs. Ward Lewis, Mrs. Earl Robinson, and Stephen Hockett all of Des Moines; Mr. and Mrs. Don Van Cleave and family of Adel; and Mr. and m. James Cunningham and family of Redfield.
