MRS. BERTIE FOX DIES AT PALO ALTO, CALIF.

Mrs. Bertie Fox, a former Madison county resident, died Monday, Oct. 12, at Palo Alto, Calif. She was 87 years of age.

The body will be returned to Winterset for burial, with Anderson's Home for Funerals in charge.

Mrs. Fox formerly taught school in Winterset and surrounding area for many years.

Surviving is a brother, Frank Bell, of Winterset.

MRS. BIRDIE FOX SERVICES AT WINTERSET

Funeral services were held here Friday from the Anderson home for funerals for Mrs. Birdie Fox, whose death had occurred Oct. 12 at Palo Alto, Calif. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.

Mrs. Fox was 87 years of age at her death. She was the former Birdie Bell, daughter of Jasper and Anna Henderson Bell, and was born in Madison county, where her early life was spent.

As a young woman she was a school teacher, at Winterset and in other communities.

She was married to S. W. Fox, a Winterset grocer, and a few years later they moved to Greeley, Colo. After a few years in Colorado, they moved to California, and then to Texas where Mr. Fox's death occurred in 1936. She then returned to California, where the remainder of her life was spent.

Surviving are four children, Mrs. Edna Caldwell of Phoenix, Ariz., Irene Fox of El Paso, Tex., Dorothy Fox of Auburn, Wash., and Gerald Fox of Palo Alto, Calif. She also leaves a step-daughter, Mrs. Frank B. Howe, of Ithaca, N. Y., and a brother, Frank Bell of Winterset.
