Death of Mrs. Verna Husted

The body of Mrs. Verna Husted daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Ballard of Winterset, was brought to the Peru cemetery last week for burial. Mrs. Husted's funeral services were conducted at the Dunn Funeral home in Des Moines on February 26th, in charge of her pastor, the Rev. George E. Purdy.

The death of Mrs. Husted occurred in Des Moines on February 24th, terminating an extended period of failing health. She was 37 years of age.

The deceased was the former Verna Ballard and was born in Ames on July 16, 1898. As a child she moved with her parents to the Elm Grove neighborhood in this county. She was married to Eldon E. Husted on March 2, 1916. They were the parents of three children, one of whom, Phillip Dale, preceded his mother in death.

Mrs. Husted was a member of the Grant Park Church of Christ in Des Moines, taking an active part in its affairs.

She is survived by her husband, the two children, Esta Lee and Richard; her parents; two sister, Mrs. Ruth Brubaker of Des Moines and Mrs. Dorothy Taylor of Ft. Riley, Kansas; and two brothers, Loyd Ballard of Minneapolis and Lyle Ballard of Omaha.
