FLETCHER R. PORTER DIES AT 92 YEARS

Death Occurs at Sioux City For Life-Long Resident of County

Fletcher R. Porter of Truro, a life-long resident of Madison county, died Tuesday, July 8, at the home of a daughter in Sioux City. He was 92 years of age.

Mr. Porter was born on a farm near St. Charles on March 25, 1866, a son of Mr. and Mrs. John C. Porter. He was married at Winterset Oct. 14, 1889, to Alberta Dowler. They observed their Golden Wedding day on Oct. 14, 1940, and she died less than a month later.

He was for many years engaged in the hotel business. He was affiliated with the Methodist church at Truro.

Surviving are his daughter, Lucie E. Porter of Sioux City; a sister, Mrs. Iva Plumb; seven grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held last Friday from Kale's Funeral home in Truro, conducted by the Rev. Dale Lockhart. Burial was made in the St. Charles cemetery.
