ELLEN PHILLIPS DIES AT AMES

Mrs. Ellen Phillips, a former resident of the Winterset community, died Monday, Sept. 1, at Ames. Death followed a stroke. She was 86 years of age.

Mrs. Phillips was a native of Jones County, where she was born April 26, 1872. She was married at Maquoketa on Feb. 12, 1892, to Daniel H. Phillips. Her husband died in 1922, and one son preceded her in death.

She leaves two sons, Howard Phillips of Ames, and Max Phillips of Portland, Ore.; and one grandson.

Funeral services are to be held this Thursday afternoon from the Adams chapel in Ames, conducted by the Rev. E. W. Remley. Burial services will be held about 3 p.m. at the Winterset cemetery.
