Death of Mrs. Eliza Peak

Mrs. Elza Peak, a resident of Madison county for 61 years, died at her home near Winterset, July 11, stricken by paralysis. She was 77 years old.

Mrs. Peak was one of the pioneers of Madison county. She was the former Sarah Alice McMichael, daughter of Allen and Hester Adams McMichael, and was born in Rush county, Indiana, on July 23, 1858. In 1860 she came with her parents to Polk county where the family made its home until 1875, when they moved to Madison county, which has since been her home.

On September 27, 1876, she was married to George Miller Breeding. They were the parents of three children; Lulu James of Indianola, George Allen Breeding of Des Moines and Elinor Holmes of Winterset. Her husband died in 1880.

In 1883 she was married to Elza Peak. They were the parents of six children; Martha Moffitt of North Dakota, Frank Peak, residence unknown, Ralph Peak of St. Mary's, Bruce Peak of Atlantic, and Ruth and Hugh Peak at home.

In addition to her children she leaves 28 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Laura Kimball of Des Moines.

Funeral services were held on Sunday from the family home in charge of the Rev. O. K. Schesselman of the Oak Grove church. Burial was made in the Blair Chapel cemetery.
