HANSON CONDUCTS RANKIN SERVICES

The Rev. Sherman Hanson, pastor of the Winterset Church of Christ, conducted funeral services last Thursday from the Richards Funeral home for Orville Rankin, whose death occurred at Memorial hospital Dec. 2.

Mr. Rankin was 83 years of age at his death. With the exception of 11 years in Missouri, his life-time was spent in Madison county. He was born at Peru, where he attended school. He was married Sept. 1, 1894, to Mary Bush. They settled on a farm six miles west of Winterset where they lived 21 years.

He is survived by his wife; four children, Claire Rankin of Des Moines, Wilbur and Frank Rankin of near Winterset, and Mrs. Maud Tough of near Winterset. He also leaves 11 grandchildren, two of whom were reared in his home after their mother’s death, and 14 great grandchildren.

Orval Rankin died Here Tuesday Night

Orval Rankin, well known Lincoln township resident for many years, died Tuesday night at Memorial hospital in Winterset. He was 84 years of age. Death followed a stroke, which he suffered Sunday.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. this Thursday from the Richards Funeral home.

Note: Burial was made in the Winterset Cemetery.
