Friday, October 29, 1937Perry Olsen, son of Gustave and Bengta Olson, was born October 26, 1859 near Helsinburg, Sweden. When a lad of 11 years he came to this country and made his home with an uncle, John Howard, near Marshalltown, where he grew to manhood.
At an early age he accepted Christ as his Saviour and became a member of the Lutheran church.
On January 7, 1896, he was united in marriage to Laura Peterson. Four children came to bless this union, Lourena, who died February 1, 1915, Nina May, Helen and Kenneth.
He came to Madison county in 1895 and continued to make it his home until his death October 18, 1937 at the age of 77 years, 11 months and 22 days. His wife preceded him in death February 25, 1915.
He was industrious and quiet and interested in public life, a great reader and a great lover of home, caring for the three children left to his care with all possible love and tenderness.
He leaves to mourn his passing Mrs. Mae Caudle with whom he made his home, Mrs. Helen Cook of Guthrie Center and Kenneth Olson of Winterset, four grandchildren, one brother, N. P. Olson of Ellsworth, Iowa, five nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held Wednesday October 20th at the Ramsey Richards funeral home in Winterset. Rev. E. A. Elliott of Van Meter officiating. Roy Cleveland, Chester Stanley, Rufus Baker, Charles Clark, Thurman and Floyd Gray acted as pall bearers, the interment being made in the St. Charles cemetery.

Burial services for Perry Olson, 78, was held at the St. Charles cemetery Wednesday, Oct. 20 following the funeral service at the Ramsey-Richards Funeral Home in Winterset.
Mr. Olson and family lived on the Carlson farm many years ago, and about twenty-four years ago lived on the old Worthing farm northeast of Truro, where his wife and older daughter, died within a period of six weeks.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Mae Caudle of near Winterset and Mrs. Helen Cook of Dallas Center and one son Kenneth also of near Winterset.
