Mrs. Rena Acheson, 76, died Saturday evening following a week’s illness. Death was due to pneumonia. Dr. R. C. Cully, pastor of the First Presbyterian church, was in charge of the funeral services held Tuesday afternoon at two o’clock at the Tidrick funeral home. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
Funeral was largely attended by friends and former patrons of Mrs. Acheson who for years had conducted a home laundry. A hard and indefatigable worker, she was always accommodating and always strived to please her customers. During the first day of her illness she finished two ironings so that they might be delivered when promised.
Mrs. Acheson was born March 28, 1859. The family lived for a long time on Short street in the west part of town and later moved out of the state. Her marriage to Lem Acheson took place in Salina, Kansas, December 5, 1879. Her husband and six children survive: Billy, Bert, Mary, Roy and Sol of Winterset, and Jim Acheson of Fonda. Another daughter, Mrs. Alice Hudson, died in 1931. She also leaves a brother, George Gilpin, who lives in Oakland, California, and two sisters, Mrs. Isabelle Howard, of Salina, Kansas, and Mrs. Emma Hunter, St. Louis, Missouri.
