Othello Beeler, son of Fred and Nancy Beeler was born near Peru, Madison County, Iowa, April 4, 1865 and lived with his parents on their farm until April 11, 1887 when he was united in marriage to Emma L. Deardorff. To this union was born five children, four sons and one daughter, Lula May, who preceded her father in death in January 1895 at the age of two years and Clarence in December 1895 at the age of seven months.
Those who remain to mourn his loss are his wife and three sons, Fred, Otto and Leo, all of Peru and five grandchildren, Josephine, Carl, Billy, Phyllis Ann and Donna May.
He had four brothers, Otto who died in infancy, Fred M. in June 1928 and Charles and Will of Winterset. Also many other relatives and friends. He was a very devoted husband and father.
He was a member of the Peru Methodist church and as long as his health would permit, was in attendance.
His life was devoted to farming and lived on the same farm and reared his family. In 1923 he and his wife moved to Peru where they have made their home until his death on March 9, 1937 at the age of 71 years, 11 months and 5 days.
