S. E. Bonham, a life long resident of Madison county died at his home in Macksburg, Friday, June 1, at the age of 75 years. He was born in Grand River township and lived there most of his life.
On September 20, 1883 he was married to Mary Elizabeth McKenzie and they were the parents of four children, who with the mother survive him: Frank of Macksburg, Allie Durham of Denver, Colorado and Verile Garrett and Flossie Bass of Macksburg.

Samuel Evan Bonham, son of Alexander and Susan Bonham was born June 17, 1858 at the old Bonham homestead, two and one-half miles southeast of Macksburg, Madison county, Iowa, and departed this life on June 1, 1934, at his home in Macksburg at the age of 75 years, 11 months and 14 days. He spent his entire life in Grand River township with the exception of eleven years residence in Lorimor.
On September 20, 1883 he was united in marriage to Mary Elizabeth McKenzie and they celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary last September.
To this union were born one son and three daughters Francis of Macksburg, Allie Durham of Denver, Colorado, Beril Garrett and Flossie Bass of Macksburg.
He was converted and united with the Baptist church at Macksburg. He is survived by his wife and children and three granddaughters, Mrs. Marie Bottger of Des Moines, Geraldine Garrett of Macksburg and Opal Guthrie of Hamburg, one sister-in-law, Mrs. George Bonham of Lorimor, a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
