Addie Lenora, daughter of John C. and Elizabeth Grandfield was born near Macksburg, Madison county, Iowa, January 24, 1861 and departed this life on April 9, 1934, age 73 years, 3 months and 15 days.
Her entire life was spent in or near the home community.
On November 9, 1881, she was united in marriage to C. C. Logsdon who preceded her in death on March 9, 1924. To this union were born one daughter, Mrs. Bessie Cochran. She also shared her motherly love and care with Mrs. Addie McKee Smith through her early girlhood and with Mrs. Addie Porter Thomas from girlhood until her marriage in 1915 to Orin Thomas of near Macksburg.
She united with the Liberty Baptist church near Orient, Iowa, later taking an active part in church and community activities in West Branch neighborhood near Macksburg.
She was also affiliated with the local Rebekah Lodge and the Woman’s Relief Corps.
In 1916 she, with her husband, moved from the farm to Macksburg where she has resided since that time.
She is survived by her daughter Mrs. Bessie Cochran of Lorimor, three grandchildren Mrs. Mildred Jacobs of Webster City; Vaun Cochran of Lorimor and Miss Neva Dell Cochran of Macksburg, also four great grandchildren. Three brothers also survive: J. M. Grandfield of Afton, O. A. Grandfield of Macksburg and F. W. Grandfield of Creston.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mrs. Rose Porter in 1907 and Mrs. Alice Stearns in 1930 and by two brothers Oscar M. and John W. Grandfield both in 1924.
Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Macksburg Tuesday afternoon at 2:30, conducted by Rev. Myrtle Wolfe assisted by Rev. Edwin H. Sands. Interment was made in the Moon cemetery.
