Elizabeth Tanner was born July 27, 1850, in Acram, new York. She was the daughter of Streevor and Elizabeth Tanner. Her early life was spent in or near the place of her birth.
She was united in marriage to Milton A. Smith, January 16, 1873. To this union were born seven sons and one daughter: Wm. T. of Dexter; Fred, who passed away June 1, 1932; Asa, Clarence, Chester, Claudie, who died in infancy; Raymond and Mrs. Pearl Price, all of Earlham. These six children mourn, together with 22 grandchildren, one great grandchild and a host of friends and neighbors.
In her early life Mrs. Smith united with the Methodist Episcopal Church, remaining staunch in her beliefs until her passing. For a number of years she was confined to her home, and her greatest consideration was for the members of her family and their children.
Her husband preceded her in death August 8, 1931.
After a long illness she passed away in the early morning hours on February 12, 1934, aged 83 years six months and 26 days.
