Thursday, November 19, 1936Mrs. Sarah Griffith Dies
Mrs. Sarah Catherine Griffith, a life-long resident of Madison county, died Sunday at the home of her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Ersie Griffith.
Mrs. Griffith was the daughter of Alfred and Mary Norris and was born on September 20, 1863 in this county. She was reared in Douglas township and attended the Winterset high school, later teaching in the rural schools of the county.
In 1884 she was married to Winfield Griffith. They were the parents of one son, Ersie. Mr. Griffith died in 1900. After that she made her home with her son until his death in 1935.
In 1892 she united with the Worthington Methodist church, and has been known as a faithful member.
In addition to her daughter-in-law she is survived by six grandchildren, one great grandchild, a brother, Frank Norris of Lorimor, two sisters, Mrs. L. R. Moore of Winterset and Mrs. W. F. Gentry of Norwalk and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held from the Tidrick funeral home Tuesday in charge of the Rev. E. E. Garrett of the West Star-Worthington churches. Burial was made in the McDowell cemetery.
