Mrs. W. J. Bumbarger, member of a pioneer Madison county family, died Aug. 20 at Osceola, according to word received here this week. She was 84 years of age.
Mrs. Bumbarger was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Fife, who settled in Madison county about 1849. Her nearest surviving relative is a daughter, Mrs. Truth Teller of Cincinnati, Ohio. Most of her life was spent in the St. Charles community, until moving to Osceola several years ago.
Burial was held at the St. Charles cemetery Aug. 24.

Funeral Services Will Be Held On Saturday in Osceola
Mrs. Nora Bumbarger, widow of the late W. J. Bumbarger, longtime interior decorator in Osceola, died this (Thursday) morning at the hospital at Clarinda, Iowa. She was 85 years old.
Services will be held at the Miller Funeral home Saturday, August 23 at 2:00 o’clock with burial at St. Charles.
Survivors include her daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Teller and James, of Cincinnati, Ohio.

Nora Hester Fife, daughter of Samuel and Frances Fife, was born near Winterset, Iowa, February 20, 1874. She died Thursday, August 21, 1958 at the Mental Health Institute, Clarinda, Iowa.
On October 17, 1900 she was married to Walter J. Bumbarger at St. Charles, Iowa. To this union were born four children, two infant sons, a son George who died at two years of age and a daughter Truth.
Mrs. Bumbarger was preceded in death by her husband, Walter, three sons, her parents, five sisters and four brothers. She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Truth Teller, one grandson James Teller, one sister, Mrs. Della Thompson, and many more distant relatives and friends.
She resided in Union and Madison counties until 1920 when the family moved to Osceola.
She was a member of the Christian church and active in the church until her health made it impossible.
Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Warren Hile at the Miller Funeral home Saturday, August 23. Music was furnished by Emil Rinderspacher accompanied by Amy Ruth Harlan. Burial in the St. Charles cemetery.
