OBITUARY

George Raymond Stanley, son of Charles and Margaret Stanley was born on a farm near Earlham, Iowa on January 24, 1890, and quietly slipped away at the close of the day on October 20, 1958 at the age of 68 years, five months and 26 days. He was united in marriage to Myrtle Hall, August 29, 1912, and nine children were born to this union.

George was a good farmer, enjoyed caring for his stock and spent his entire life on farms in the vicinity of Dexter and Stuart. He purchased the farm northeast of Dexter in 1945, where he was residing at the time of his death. He was converted during a revival meeting at an early age and joined the United Brethren church at Pleasant Hill. He was a good neighbor, a kind father and devoted husband.

He had been in failing health for several years, and although it was quite a cross for him to give up his active life, he bore it without complaint. The last few years he was confined quite closely to his own home, but enjoyed company and looked forward with much pleasure to the home coming of his children and grandchildren.

George leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Myrtle, eight brothers and sisters, eight children with their companions, 25 grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Margaret who died at the age of three years, his parents, two sisters and six brothers. The surviving children are Opal Brink of Mission, Kansas; Marjorie Speedling and Louise Kading of Casey; Mildred Bleding and Esther Lister of Stuart; Ruby Hodge of Des Moines; Gerald and Gene Stanley of Dexter.
