John F. Simpson, veteran Madison county citizen, died at Clarinda March 10 at the age of 76 years.
Mr. Simpson was born September 3, 1859 in Marion county. He was married to Emma Gilbert in 1883. They were the parents of five children, Leta Mae and Levia, preceded the father in death. A son, Omer Simpson of Macksburg; and two daughters, Ona Kingery of Berrien Springs, Michigan and Lora Ritter of Earlham, survive. He also leaves four brothers, Jesse, Virgil, Charlie and Packard Simpson; and five sisters, Hattie, Mary, Anna, Bertha and Bessie.
Most of Mr. Simpson's life was spent on a farm near Macksburg.
Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Macksburg on March 13th in charge of the Rev. M. D. Summerbell. Burial was made in the Macksburg cemetery.
