MRS. CHARLES MCNAMARA SUCCUMBS IN ILLINOIS

Former Alice Beem of This Community Dies at Age of 42 Years

Mrs. Charles McNamara, former Winterset resident, died at Villa Park, Ill., Monday night after an illness of about a year. She was 42 years of age.

Mrs. McNamara was the former Miss Alice Beem, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Beem of Winterset, and was born and reared in this community. She graduated from the Winterset high school with the class of 1919 and was married here to Charles McNamara. About a year later they moved to Chicago and that community had since been their home.

They were the parents of one son, Jack McNamara. In addition to the boy, she is survived by her husband; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Beem of Winterset; two brothers, Francis and Donald Beem of Winterset; and three sisters, Mrs. Mary Crawford of Earlham, Mrs. Gladys Callison of Winterset, and Mrs. Lillian Weaver.

Funeral services and burial will be made at Villa Park.

FORMER RESIDENT DIES IN ILLINOIS

Word was received here Tuesday morning of the death of Mrs. Charles McNamara of Villa Park, Ill., formerly of Winterset. She had been suffering an extended period of ill health for the past year, and was 42 years of age.

Funeral services will be held this afternoon, Thursday, at 3:30 o’clock in Villa Park, and burial will be made there.

Mrs. Alice McNamara was born Jan 15, 1900, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Beem of Winterset. She spent her youth in Winterset and attended the Winterset high school. Following her graduation she was employed in the offices of the News and in the offices of Judge W. S. Cooper.

On January 17, 1923, she was married to Charles McNamara and they were the parents of one son, Jack, who is a senior student in the York high school at Elmhurst, Ill.

Following their marriage they made their home in Chicago, Ill., and lived there all the years of their marriage with the exception of one spent on the McNamara farm near Winterset.

Relatives planning to attend the funeral services from here are Richard McNamara, Mrs. Eugene McNamara, Mrs. Walter Beem and Mrs. Ira Callison.
