Long-Time Resident Here Was 84 Years of Age
Harry H. Mercer of Winterset died Thursday, May 11, after a brief illness. He was 84 years of age.
Mr. Mercer was born in Winterset Nov. 6, 1876, a son of William and Etta Rogers Mercer. Fifty years of his life were spent in this community, and about 34 years at Redding, Calif., where he served as a government trapper and U.S. forest ranger.
He was married here in 1902 to Minnie Edgar.
Surviving are a son, Glenn Mercer of Winterset; three grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held this Monday from the Anderson-Wilson Funeral home in Winterset in charge of the Rev. George Vogel, pastor of Emanuel Lutheran church at Greenfield. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
