Last rites were conducted for Charles T. Irvin Thursday, August 17, in the Earlham Presbyterian church.
Mr. Irvin passed away Monday, August 14, in the Veterans hospital in Des Moines. He had been in ill health for some time.
The services were conducted by Rev. Delbert Welty, local minister, and the Earlham American Legion Post. Music was provided by Isabella Godby and William Price, accompanied by Mrs. Fred Fry at the organ.
Casket bearers were Claude Peer, L. O. Patten, Ed Tough, Fred Hunter, D. A. Byrne and Earl Schalkle.
Interment was in the Earlham cemetery.
OBITUARY
Charles T. Irvin was born at Adel, Iowa November 25, 1875 and passed away at the Des Moines Veterans hospital at the age of 85 years on August 14, 1961.
He was married to Edith Alexander on November 27, 1901. A son Charles was born December 27, 1902.
In 1903 the Irvin family moved to the state of Washington. In 1914 they returned to Earlham where they have since resided.
Charles served in the U.S. Navy during World War I. He was a rural mail carrier from September 1921 until December 1, 1940.
Charles was a charter member of the American Legion Chapter in Earlham which was founded in 1919.
His home and family were Mr. Irvin's chief interests. He will be missed by many relatives and friends.
